Engineered green roof systems

Rooftops that work as hard as the buildings beneath them.

Earth Green designs, builds and maintains vegetated roof systems that manage stormwater, cool buildings and bring habitat back to the skyline — engineered layer by layer for your climate and structure.

Our systems

One green roof problem, four engineered answers.

Every roof carries a different load limit, slope and budget. We match the system to the structure — not the other way around.

EXTENSIVE

Sedum Roof

Lightweight, low-maintenance vegetation blanket for slopes up to 20°. The fastest way to turn a bare deck into a living, drought-tolerant surface.

Substrate60–100mm
SEMI-INTENSIVE

Biodiverse Roof

Varied substrate depths and native perennials create a mosaic habitat for pollinators and birds, with measurable ecological value.

Substrate100–200mm
RETENTION-BASED

Blue-Green Roof

A built-in water-retention crate layer detains heavy rainfall and releases it slowly, sized to your local drainage requirements.

Retentionup to 80L/m²
INTENSIVE

Podium & Roof Gardens

Deep substrate builds for shrubs, trees and usable amenity space — engineered with structural load and irrigation in mind from day one.

Anatomy of a roof

Six layers. One system, engineered to work together.

Every Earth Green build-up follows the same logic, tuned per project: plants on top, structure at the bottom, and four working layers between them managing water and roots. Select a layer to see what it does.

Pre-grown Sedum, grasses or perennials selected for your climate and roof exposure, delivering full coverage from day one instead of a bare mineral surface.

Why green roofs

A roof that does more than shed rain.

RAINFALL

Stormwater retention

The substrate and drainage layer buffer heavy rain, easing pressure on drains and reducing runoff into the sewer network.

CLIMATE

Urban cooling

Evapotranspiration from the vegetation layer lowers surface temperatures, cutting the urban heat island effect roof by roof.

ECOLOGY

Habitat & biodiversity

Even a modest Sedum roof gives pollinators, insects and birds a foothold in otherwise sterile rooftop terrain.

ENERGY

Thermal performance

The build-up insulates the deck against summer heat gain and winter heat loss, easing load on HVAC systems below.

DURABILITY

Membrane protection

Shielded from UV and thermal shock, a waterproofing membrane under a green roof typically outlasts an exposed one.

PEOPLE

Usable, calmer space

Intensive build-ups turn dead roof area into gardens, terraces and amenity space that people actually want to use.

How we work

From bare deck to established roof.

01

Site assessment

We review structural load capacity, slope, drainage points and access, and confirm what the existing roof can carry before anything is specified.

02

System design

Based on the assessment, we spec the build-up — substrate depth, drainage capacity, plant palette — matched to your climate, budget and structure.

03

Installation

Our crews install the waterproofing check, protection and drainage layers, then lay substrate and vegetation, sequenced to keep the site safe and dry.

04

Establishment & maintenance

Scheduled visits through the first growing season and beyond keep coverage, drainage outlets and plant health on track.

Applications

Built for flat roofs, pitched roofs and everything between.

A look at how the same six layers adapt across building types.
